Lowell Shirey- Guntersville, Alabama Been playing 35 years – Singer, Drums and Percussion. Lowell began at an early age singing and playing drums in church.  After several years he entered and competed in the TNN TV show, You Could Be a Star, where he was 1st runner up. He was on the show for 16 weeks. Lowell later signed RCA development deal in Nashville working with Dennis Clifton to develop material for major record deal.  It did not materialize but during that time and later he opened for Exile, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Eddie Raven, Vince Gill, Kentucky Headhunters, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson.  The band Legal Tender was formed to continue this recording project (With Dennis Clifton, Dink Cook and Gene Pledger). He also was the lead singer for the Downtown Horns for several years. Lowell has extensive experience and is one of the finest vocalists to come from our area.

Gene Pledger- Albertville, Alabama—30 Years Experience-- Drums and Percussion. Gene began his career with Pat Upton – Headline playing at PJ’s Alley in Guntersville. He then joined Bagdad, a circuit touring rock band playing the southeastern US,  Opening for Foghat, Brother Cane, Pat Travers among others.  In 1991 he joined Legal Tender with Lowell Shirey, Dink Cook and Dennis Clifton playing and recording in Nashville for many major record companies and performing shows in Atlanta and Nashville. Legal Tender performed at the Big Spring Jam, City Stages, and Panoply and also opened for Martina McBride and Sammy Kershaw @ Riverfest,  Steve Warner and Lee Roy Parnell @ Sloss Furnace.  Gene has been performing acoustic shows with Damon Johnson (Brother Cane, Alice Cooper, Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders) for 10+ years and recorded 2 acoustic albums with him. Among many shows they performed Rick and Bubba Fat Fest at Oak Mountain Amphitheater (sold out) and opening for Eric Johnson at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth GA. (Atlanta). He has also performed acoustic shows with Mike Farris (Grammy winning artist) Buck Johnson (current Aerosmith keyboardist) and Audley Freed from Black Crowes. Gene was the drummer with Downtown Horns for 10 years playing Big Spring Jam, panoply and many others.
